The mission of the Fraternity & Sorority Life office is to foster the learning and development of students who affiliate with the social fraternities and sororities at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. A: My favorite thing I have done with Chi Omega is Chi O Casino. It is our big philanthropy event for Make A Wish Foundation. It is our big philanthropy event for Make A Wish Foundation. We put on a casino night and all the girls learn how to become dealers for games like poker, black jack, and roulette. Chi O’s are super friendly and kind! Most down to earth sorority at cal poly hands down. They have a strong sisterhood and there is a mix of people. I love hanging out with them and would recommend joining! Hi All! I’m Courtney Slamon, Chi Omega’s 2020 Personnel Chair. I’m so honored to serve such an amazing group of women this year and continue to foster the Chi Omega community that I fell in love with. I rushed my freshmen year and knew Chi Omega was where I belonged because of how each woman made me feel. Chi Omega women are genuine, authentic, kind and passionate. It was so easy to be myself each day during recruitment, and I knew picking Chi O would help me grow into the woman I wanted to be during my four years at Cal Poly. Chi Omega is the largest sorority in the nation. We have 181 chapters and make up a large network of strong women. We are guided by our six purposes: Friendship, Personal Integrity, Service to Others, Academic Excellence and Intellectual Pursuits, Community and Campus Involvement and Personal and Career Development. Our purposes push us to do more in our community and for ourselves. We prepare our women in their collegiate years for their futures, and nurture friendships that last a lifetime. My favorite event each year is our annual philanthropy Chi O Casino. Chi O Casino is an event we host to raise money for our philanthropy Make A Wish. Make A Wish grants kids with terminal illnesses a wish and inspires them to keep fighting. Every year we invite a Wish Recipient and their family to come speak at our event. This year, we had a thousand participants and raised over $46,000. We had the honor to host Bryson, who struggles with epilepsy. I’m so proud of the work our chapter does and the impact it makes on families just like this one. Being a part of Chi Omega is more than just four years of events. Being a Chi Omega is for a lifetime. Forever you will have a support system behind you in everything you do. We are sisters of purpose, on purpose. I’m so lucky to have chosen this sisterhood.
